Grainger Everyday Heroes: PFC Ralph H. Johnson

Meet Ralph H. Johnson, Private First Class in the U.S. Marines and Grainger Everyday Hero. He had only served in Vietnam for four months and while in a foxhole, he jumped on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers, making the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
Here is one of our local heroes from Charleston who we're very proud of, his name is Ralph H. Johnson. He was a private first class in the Marines. He was 19 years old and had been in the Republic of South Vietnam four months as part of the rifle company. He's in a foxhole with his buddies and while they're in there, a North Vietnamese evidently throws a hand grenade in the [foxhole]. Ralph Johnson yells "grenade," jumps on the grenade and covers it up, protecting his buddies. Ultimately, he gave his life for his country.
