Lockout/tagout (LOTO) devices install on machinery, electrical equipment, and plumbing systems to reduce the risk of injuries from unintended startups during maintenance. They're an integral part of a complete procedure designed to meet the OSHA standard for the Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout). Lockout padlocks prevent the lockout device from being removed accidentally. Some LOTO devices fit specific equipment such as valves, steering wheels, pipe flanges, and gas cylinders. Cable lockouts lock multiple energy sources and flex around difficult-to-lock devices, such as handles and gate valves. Lockout hasps and group lockout boxes are used when multiple people are servicing equipment at the same time. Tagout tags install in the padlock to indicate the equipment is locked out and identify the lock owner. Stations and kits include a dedicated storage container to keep equipment together.
